Conversation 1:
A: Where did you go finally?
B: We decided on an overnight cruise partway through our travels in Viet Nam.
A: How was it?
B: The day trip just seemed like it would be too hectic. It was about a three and a half-hour drive from Ha Noi. I want it longer.

Conversation 2
A: Was the trip to your expectation?
B: Not really. We met some great people on our luxury, air conditioned transfer to the bay. It’s unfortunate that it turned out we were all allotted to different ships once we got there.

Conversation 3
A: What did you like most about the trip?
B: Maybe the good weather both days. Let me see, the scenery was amazing and the cruise was fun and relaxing. The food was absolutely amazing… Hmn, the best thing was the crew. Most helpful, friendly and entertaining ever.

A: How can the trip be improved?
B: We never did see the captain, chefs or mechanic until the very end, when they were introduced to us. But that’s OK. The guide should be replaced. Although he was very good, on the rare occasion it felt like he wasn’t very helpful.

Interviewer: I have a special guest today on History Channel. Mr. Nam is a teacher in the University of Transport and an expert on the railway. Mr. Nam, when was the Vietnamese railway system first started?
Mr. Nam: The first route was built by the French in 1881. It was a 70-kilometre rail from Sai Gon to My Tho.
Interviewer: And the first train to run and that route was in…?
Mr. Nam: July 1885. Then the French continued to install other routes, and finally, the North – South rail was completed in 1936, after 37 years of construction.
Interviewer: Wow. How long did it take to travel by train from North to South back then?
Mr. Nam: 70 hours. Now it has been cut down to 30 hours if the weather is fine and there is no interruption.
Interviewer: What kinds of interruption?
Mr. Nam: Accidents, for example.
Interviewer: What would be the worst accident in the history of the Vietnamese railway?
Mr. Nam: The accident in 1982. Train number 183 departed from Nha Trang and was making a 90 degree turn when it turned over itself. Most of the crew members and more than 200 passengers died.
Interviewer: It’s terrible. Has the railway safety improved since then?
Mr. Nam: Of course. Right after that, the dangerous turn was adjusted. Travelling by train has enjoyed a much higher safety record recently.
