Man:       Good morning, madam. Can I help you?

Woman:  Yes. I’ve lost my bag.

Man:       Oh, I am sorry. Now, where did you lose it?

Woman:  In the town centre. I had it when I got off the bus.

Man:       Was there much money in the bag?

Woman:  No, there wasn’t. I usually have forty or fifty pounds in it, but today I think there was only

                 about twenty.

Man:       What else was in the bag?

Woman:  Just my gloves. I left my credit card and driving license at home.

Man:       Was the bag expensive?

Woman:  No, it was an old one. It wasn’t big enough really.

Man:       Now, what time did you lose it?

Woman:  Well, I left home about nine thirty and the bus takes halt an hour, so I lost it about ten o’clock.

Man:       Right. Well, I’ll phone you tomorrow to tell you if we find it. Are you at home in the

                 afternoon?

Woman:  Sorry, I’m going out until the evening. Could you phone before ten in the morning?

Man:       Certainly. I’ll call then. Now, what’s your number?

Receptionist:      Silver Tulip Hotel. Good afternoon. How can I help you?

Edward:             Ah, yes. Good afternoon. I’d like to book a room for next Friday.

Edward:             Just one, please.

Receptionist:      And would you like a single or double room?
Edward:             A double room, please.

Receptionist:      We can reserve a parking space for you. Are you coming by car?
Edward:             Actually, I’ll be taking a taxi from the station.
Receptionist:      That’s fine. And one last question: would you like dinner and breakfast?
Edward:             No dinner, thank you. But I’d like breakfast.
Receptionist:      Just breakfast. So, to confirm. You’re arriving on Friday 16th April and leaving on

                            Saturday 17th. That’s one night in a double room with a king sized bed with

                            breakfast.
Edward:             That’s right. Thank you very much.

Receptionist:      And could I have your mobile number?

Edward:             Yes. It’s 0 79 76 122577, Oh no sorry, it’s been changed! It’s 07 961 121597.

Receptionist:      07961 121597. Thank you. Is there anything else I can help you with?

Edward:             Yes, I’m having dinner with a friend. Could vou recommend the best restaurant

                            near by?
Receptionist:      That would be the Winston Churchill. It’s about a mile from here.
Edward:             Perfect. Could you please make a reservation for 7 p.m. and leave a message with

                            the details for my friend When he arrives?
